Review: REVIEW: The Red Eyes -From The Outside In. |
The Red Eyes - From the outside in The Red Eyes hail from Glasgow and formed in 1997. Their latest, and third, album is called From the Outside In and is well worth a listen. They have a great melodic sound and fans of 77 punk will love this album. Even though I have seen the Red Eyes play live a couple of times in Morecambe and thoroughly enjoyed them, I had not heard any of their releases. I really enjoyed this CD; I put it on to listen to as I was doing something else but found myself stopping what I was doing to sit down with the CD booklet and read the lyrics as I was listening to the songs. Songs that stood out to me were This is my life, which made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and is about our love for our music and our scene - it stayed in my head all day - and also Back in the Day which made me feel all nostalgic. I also enjoyed Just Another Stranger and Norah Louise Kuzma, which was released on the Norah Louise Kuzma Cd-EP in 2004 which got some good reviews. There are 13 tracks on the CD, all of them really catchy and singalong, in the vein of The Guitar Gangsters and The Lurkers. The production of the CD is very good and the music is tight and well played. I really liked the vocals and the harmonising too. The Red Eyes have gigged extensively over the years, supporting bands including Stiff Little Fingers, Goldblade, The Lurkers and The Undertones and have played at many festivals too. They are definitely a band to catch next time you get the chance. If you love 77 punk you'd be daft to miss them! If you love 77 punk you'd also be daft not to buy this album, go on - you won't be disappointed!
