Review: REVIEW: Reno Divorce - Tears Before Breakfast |
Reno Divorce - Tears Before Breakfast Reno Divorce play 'punk rock n' roll from the streets of Denver', although they were originally formed in Orlando, Florida. Their third album Tears Before Breakfast is released on I Scream Records and they have been likened in many a review and interview to Social Distortion. On listening to the CD Social Distortion were the band that sprung to my mind immediately. They play a similar brand of gritty punk rock n'roll, melodic and a bit melancholy, and influenced by country. The gravelly vocals of Brent Loveday remind me very much of Mike Ness too. The album was thoroughly enjoyable and easy to listen to and they are obviously acomplished musicians and know how to write a decent tune. Songs that especially stood out for me were How Long's it Been?, Say It and Behind Closed Doors. I think Reno Divorce will appeal to a wide audience - fans of Social Distortion will obviously love them as will fans of punk, country and rock n' roll. They are definitely a band to check out if you havent already. I think they are a band to watch out for as even though they have been going since 2000 I'm sure we'll be hearing about them more and more with the release of their latest album. As well as being a good listen Tears Before Bedtime is a well presented CD with great artwork. Reno Divorce have shared the stage with bands such as Reverend Horton Heat, Henry Rollins, Street Dogs, Agnostic Front, T.S.O.L. and the U.S Bombs and hopefully we'll get to see them play over here in the future.
